Tears fall down my cheek
without warning or knowledge
of where the thoughts arose.
No one knows why
grief can be ginormously brief
and always seems acute;
so we search for some form of relief…
be it booze, banned substances or turning over a new leaf.
I no longer crave to behave like before
so instead I just curl on the floor
and hurl my wails against the wall
while the shag soaks up the salty sorrow.
My pulse convulses with every vain attempt
to silence the shudders
by hugging the baseboards
until the temporary torment is exempt.

This feels familiar. I’m sorry the wave hit. It does come on suddenly. Sharing it is sometimes the only way to get through. Thanks for always sharing.

Wonderful poem. Lots of emotions demanding to be felt in this one. Grief or suffering loss is such an unfortunate part of life. I’d like to spread some positivity💓. A scripture that has always helped me is Revelation 21:4. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
