Siren

Look at me, and you’ll see
an ego that needs tempered
frequently elate because they think I’m great
but it’s obvious I’m far from centered
Been seduced and bemused by the songs of a Siren
Infected and used as an emotional virus
Tyrannized by the material and emotional prize
behind a mind that denies the existence of subconscious lies
Abducted and obstructed from my true self.
Simply vicissitudes of health growing sub-optimal
Yet, I know anything is possible
If I just hobble with these obstacles
And arise from the cries of emotive pride
like a Phoenix from the flames
of former consciousness.
