Many wrong deeds have been done, and they echo into eternity. Disturbing the Tao allows a person the opportunity to bring back balance. As a person changes direction in life, they encounter wrinkles from the past, like a boat turning into its own wake. This person now must handle what they have created. A person can only begin to explore that new direction in life after the wake of karma has been surfed. In order to confront the waves, one must be determined and remain calm. Too much struggle would be a waste of energy and inevitably hinder a person on their path to tranquility. Now, some ripples must be surfed in preparation for whatever lies ahead while other ripples will surely knock a person down. Nature reminds us that these wrinkles will eventually bounce back and forth until they achieve balance. In the meantime, surf’s up!
